Blog #42- Practice feature story

This is the practice feature story the I will be writing on Angel Hong:

Angel hong is a hard working and dedicated student. She strives to do the best that she can when working on things and when helping people out. But the recent covid pandemic has altered her mind and her way of thinking. While Angel does care about school and her grades she has become more lazy and less proactive due to the effects the pandemic had on her. Although the pandemic has impacted her negatively she Is doing as much as she can to get rid of her laziness and return to the hard working student that she once was.  But being a good student isn't all there is to Angel. She's also a wonderful, nice, and caring person. If she sees people in need she will do everything she can to help that person to the best of her abilities. In an interview Angel said  "That If I had superman's powers I would do my best to help people, try to lower crime, solve problems regular humans can't, and just try to make the world a better place overall." This shows how good of a person Angel is and the lengths she would go to in order to make the world a better place. While Angel seems like a great person, just like everyone else she has her own fears and embarrassing  moments. But despite all this she won't let these obstacles get in her way of reaching her current goal which is to get into a university.

Blog#39- Preliminary Task: Feature story practice #3

Today i'm going to be practicing writing my third lead for my feature story.

Background information: A lead is the opening part of a story that catches and pulls the reader into the story. It should capture the spirit of the story and create the proper tone. Can often be longer than one sentence, should be in the third person, and not filled with clichés.

The type of lead I will be attempting today is a Descriptive one.

Story

The police in this municipality received a call at 3:45 p.m. yesterday afternoon. A woman shouted at the sergeant who answered the telephone. She said: "My son's been beaten. His teacher whipped him this afternoon, and he's all red where she paddled him. Can teachers do that? That's assault and battery, and I want her arrested." Two police officers were sent to the home. They questioned the boy, who is 9 years old. At his mother's insistence, the police officers also inspected the boy's reported injuries. They reported: "We couldn't tell that the boy had been paddled. His fanny didn't look red to us, but we did notice that his pants legs were wet and muddy. As we talked, it became obvious that he boy was lying. He finally admitted that he had stopped to play on the way home from school, forgot the time and got home late. He told his mother that the teacher had spanked him and kept him after school. His mother was there with us and heard the whole story. She said she'd take of the situation, and we're quite certain that she will, as she was very embarrassed. In fact, we could hear her giving the kid a real paddling as we left—and a hard one."

Lead Attempt

Type of Story: Descriptive

A mother is going on with her day pretty normally until the boy comes home claiming that his teacher assaulted and hit him. Upon the mother's request police officers were dispatched to the house to evaluate the events taking place. The mother then claimed her son had told her his teacher had assaulted and injured her child. It was later revealed that the boy had made the whole thing up as an excuse to him being late home. The officers left but can assure you that the mother took care of things from as they were leaving.
